Jute runners bring natural texture to hallways, entries and landings. This collection includes hand-braided and hand-loomed styles in natural, white, black, navy and cream, in 3 m and 4 m lengths (300 x 80 cm and 400 x 80 cm). The Madras Parker runners in cream and dove blend jute with wool.
Choosing a jute runner
-
Length: leave about 15 to 30 cm of floor at each end of the hall. For hallways longer than about 4.6 m, see our long hallway runners, which include 5 m lengths in polypropylene and polyester.
-
Width: at 80 cm wide, these suit hallways about 100 to 110 cm wide.
-
Where to use: hallways, entries and bedrooms. Keep jute away from wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries.
Caring for jute
Vacuum regularly with the beater bar turned off, blot spills straight away and avoid soaking the runner. A little shedding is normal at first. A rug pad keeps the runner flat and stops it sliding.
Frequently asked questions
Are jute runners good for hallways?
Yes. Jute's natural colour and texture suit hallways and entries. In very busy or spill-prone spots, a synthetic runner is easier to clean.
Can I use a jute runner in the kitchen?
You can, with care. Jute absorbs liquid and can stain, so blot spills quickly. A synthetic or washable runner is easier to keep clean in a kitchen.
What sizes do jute runners come in?
This collection has 300 x 80 cm and 400 x 80 cm runners. For round options see our round jute rugs, and for larger pieces browse all jute rugs.
